Our juices are a reminder that nature is good by nature.

The Hesbaye soil is naturally nutritive and fertile. And the Petit family has had its feet planted firmly in that rich soil for multiple generations. It’s how our passion for fruit naturally grew over time and why we started focusing on apples, pears, cherries, rhubarb and, more recently, raspberries and blueberries. 

The local lands have been very generous to us. We have treated it with the utmost respect in return. We cultivate the land in a thought-through, healthy and transparent way. If you pay us a visit, we’d love to show you how we do this. We are proud to make fruit juice that is 100% natural, with no added sugar, water or additives.

The art of picking fruit at its ripest

The secret to our intensely flavourful juices is the way we pick our fruit. We will only pick the fruit when it is fully ripe and when the taste is at its best. This means that we constantly keep our finger on the pulse of our orchards. We’ll sometimes even organise two picking sessions for our red fruit during the picking season.


Our apple juice is a blend of different apple types so as to offer a perfectly balanced mix of aromas, acidity levels and sweetness. It is available in a pure version as well as in versions mixed with pears, strawberries, cherries, blueberries, rhubarb and even beetroot and ginger.

 

The convenient and environmentally friendly pouch

Our large juice pouches offer many benefits! They are easy to transport, cannot break and can be stored in any fridge. This type of packaging has an environmental footprint that is five times smaller than that of a glass bottle. The pouches also produce less waste than a bag-in-box because there simply is no box. And there’s no need to worry about the juice going bad in the refrigerator – our pouches keep the juice fresh for up to six weeks after opening.

A year at the orchard

Autumn

During the fall, we plant new fruit trees that will take firm root during the winter. By the time spring arrives, they will be stuck deep into the ground. But it takes years before a fruit tree starts bearing its first fruit. It’s why we have more than 50,000 trees at Upigny.

Winter

While nature completes its winter sleep, we roll up our sleeves to prune the fruit trees. We snip them into a beautiful shape that encourages fruit growth. If a tree has too many branches, the fruit doesn’t get enough sun and tastes less sweet as a result. At the same time, it’s also important not to prune too heavily because this will cause the tree to puts its energy towards the new branches rather than the fruit. A balancing exercise. 

Spring

Nature awakes. All our fruit trees bloom in April. A beekeeper visits us to install beehives. For two weeks, the bees pollinate the orchards by buzzing from one blossom to the next. This is how the fruit is born. When the blossoms start to fall from the trees and the first leaves start to appear, the fruit also begins to grow. Did you know that we place candles in the orchards every now and then to warm up the trees if it freezes during spring?   

Summer

The different harvests follow in rapid succession. Rhubarb is up first in June (although a second spurt of growth takes places at the end of the summer). The cherries are picked mid-June, the raspberries at the end of June, the blueberries in July, and the pears in late August, early September-October. The fruits are solely picked by hand so as not to damage it. Their juice is collected in large stainless steel cauldrons so it can briefly be pasteurised and any microbes killed while keeping the delicious qualities of the fruit intact. The juice is subsequently bottled or packed in pouches.
